B Lab Job Description Position Title: Operations/Human Resources Associate Overview: B Lab is a non-profit organization dedicated to using the power of business to solve social and environmental problems. B Lab drives systemic change through three interrelated activities: 1) building a community of Certified B Corporations to make it easier for all of us to tell the difference between “good companies” and just good marketing; 2) accelerating the growth of the impact investing industry through the use of B Lab’s GIIRS Ratings and Analytics; and 3) promoting supportive public policies including legislation that creates a new corporate form for good business. As of December 2012, there are 650 Certified B Corporations from 60 industries representing over $4B in collective revenues. Twelve states have enacted Benefit Corp legislation including CA, NY, NJ, VT, MD, VA, HI, LA, SC, MA, IL & PA. Over 50 funds, 21 institutions, and hundreds of companies are using GIIRS to distinguish their investment activities. Position Purpose: The Operations Associate will support the B Lab team and infrastructure in the core areas of human capital, financial management and corporate administration. Responsibilities: Refine and administer key human resource initiatives including recruiting, benefits administration, onboarding and orientation. Develop training materials for same. Manage B Lab’s physical work environments to assure safe and functional space for all team members. Includes oversight of equipment, supplies, & maintenance of multiple office locations. Coordinate business meetings and social events at B Lab offices and other venues. Capture all financial transactions for B Lab and generate regular financials reports. Includes A/P, A/R, office and employee’s expense management, bank reconciliations, and some grant reports. Assist with all other administrative functions including insurance, lease administration, vendor and consultant contracts, and grant compliance. Support B Lab Standards team to evaluate potential B Corps and users of the B Impact Assessment. Support B Lab Services team with B Corp onboarding function. Evaluate and improve freight and mail options for all B Lab locations. Improve banking relationships to use available technologies to reduce waste and improve transactional performance. Qualifications: Passion for B Lab’s mission High energy, self-managing, entrepreneurial personality 2-3 years experience in Human Resource Administration or Finance; experience with Salesforce and Quickbooks preferred. Team player with strong communications, organizational, and relationship-building skills. Ability to stay calm under pressure and use discretion with sensitive employee and partner information. Flexible and positive demeanor; willingness to lead by example.
